Monday Wishlist #7

1. Topshop Bright Floral Print Headband: Now that my hair is getting a little longer I'm loving wearing hairbands. I find hairbands with elastic on the back the comfiest, and my longer hair covers the band in the back so looks much nicer! I love the bright colours in this particular hairband.

2. Miss Selfridge Stripe Brim Fedora: Carrying on with the headwear theme, I'm also into hats rights now. I like that this fedora has a printed brim, it's much more interesting than a plain fedora.

3. Topshop Hayden Rip and Repair Jeans: Ripped jeans, a white vest top and sandals are one of my favourite looks in the summer. These darker wash boyfriend jeans will be a nice contrast against a crisp white vest. These jeans are  also great to wear with white trainers and a graphic tee.

4. Miss Selfridge Coral Metal Cross Body Bag: Coral is such a good colour for summer. It's bright and will suit most skin tones. A coral bag will go with most outfits, from all black, to monochrome, even bright floral prints. The gold detailing on this bag is beautiful.

5. Topshop Rosemary Print Sandals: I am in love with these shoes. The thin strap sandal has been on the fashion radar for over a year now. It started with a stiletto heel shape, but now block heeled sandals are the in thing. I find a block heel much easier to walk in, and I just prefer the overall look. The gorgeous blue print takes these shoes to another level. I love all kinds of print, especially floral. I imagine wearing these heels with an LBD, or with a pair of blue skinnies, a grey vest and a cream blazer. Perfection.

(Another) New Look Fashion Haul

As I may have mentioned a few times (OK, a lot) I work for New Look. Which is great for my wardrobe, but very bad for my bank balance. Whenever I go into work there's always new items of clothing that catch my eye, and by the end of my shift I have an armful of stuff to try on before I head off home! Here's what I've picked up recently....

No7 Pop & Glow Cream Blush Sticks // My Thoughts

If you're a regular round the aisles of you local Boots, then you may have noticed these new offerings from No7. No7 Pop & Glow Sticks are cream blush in stick form. They cost £9.95 each, but lookout as sometimes you can get them on offer. I got mine while the famous 3 for 3 offer was on.

The formula is very much cream to powder. The first time I tried them I applied the blush straight from the bullet onto my cheek and tried to blend it out with my fingers, but this didn't work out too good. The technique I've found to work best with these products is to rub your finger in the product and then dab and blend it into the cheek.

They blend quite naturally into the skin, and can be built up by adding more product. As I have quite oily skin, cream blush tends not to last too long on me, and this is true with this product. If you have the same problem as I do, you could always put  very light layer of powder blush over the top to 'set' the cream blush.

How I Style: The Faux Leather Mini #2

In today's outfit post, I'm going to show you how I would style this faux leather mini skirt for a night out. You can get a similar skirt to mine from ASOS

I decided to use red as an accent colour for this outfit, as red and black are a great combination for a night time look.

A 90's style cami with an interesting print works great with a simple black skirt. You can similar one to mine here. I decided to leave the cami out rather than tucked in, as I like the floaty hemline.

Finish the look with a pair of sexy pointed stilettos. Mine are from Zara, but you can a similar pair from ASOS here. These heels are great as you can wear them with so many outfits. They look just as good with a pair of boyfriend jeans rolled up at the ankles as they do a fitted dress.

How I Style: The Faux Leather Mini #1

Hey everyone,

This week I thought I'd show you how I style the faux leather mini skirt.

I picked mine up from New Look, but it's since gone in the sale and sold out. You can get a similar version from ASOS here. I have a faux leather skater skirt, but I really wanted a more fitted version.

To make the skirt look more casual, pair it with a black & white graphic tee. Mine is a few years old, but I like this River Island Tee, and this People Tree Tee

And finally, for a cool spring look, I've paired my gorge monochrome sandals  with this outfit.

MAC Peach Blossom Dupe?

Ever since spying the gorgeous Anna slicking on MAC's Peach Blossom (see the post here), I knew I had to have it and therefore made sneaky MAC purchase a little while ago.

I must have been on a nude lippy kick, as when the Boots 3 for 2 offer was on I also picked up the L'oreal Paris Color Rich Collection Privee Lipstick in Barely Greige by Cheryl. I'd heard a bit of buzz about this lipstick in various YouTube. I'd even referred to it as  'the best nude lipstick ever'. I decided to give it a go as I'm always on the lookout for a good nude lippie that doesn't give me the 'walking dead' look.

As I tried on this lipstick, I realised that it was very close in colour, and formula, to MAC's Peach Blossom. I think, dare I say it, that I have found my first dupe.

Monday Wishlist #6

1. Miss Selfridge Skort Playsuit: Can you tell I'm loving these citrus, zingy colours right now?! Skorts are everywhere on the high street right now, but this is the first skort playsuit I've come across, so far. I'm sure the trend will spread very soon! The tailored silhouette of this playsuit means it will look great on a night out with heels, but it could easily be worn for work with a blazer, tights and more office appropriate heels.

2. New Look Tropical Print Pencil Skirt: Pencil skirts are another super versatile piece to have in your wardrobe. I like wearing printed pencil skirts with flat sandals for a casual summer look, or with heels for a girls night out. The tropical floral print on this pencil skirt is bang on trend.

3. River Island Yellow Peep Toe Sandals: I've said it before, but neon yellow is my colour this season. An all black outfit, then these shoes would look amazing. I'm also loving this neon yellow mixed with grey and white.

4. Miss Selfridge Mint Crepe Top: I have a few of these structured yet oversized tees in various colours, and they are great for throwing on with a pair of skinnies for a relaxed yet pulled together outfit. I can see this aqua tee looking great with a pair of white skinny jeans and tan sandals.

WIWTW (What I Wore This Week) #23

Hey everyone,

This week I've been on holiday from one of my jobs, but still working at the other, so I've had quite a relaxed week.

This first outfit is what I wore on Monday. I bought this black jumper with the intention of wearing it with these trousers. It plays down the floral print on the trousers for a more casual look. Since the weathers been quite nice recently I decided to put on my sandals. I like the simplicity of this pair, and the addition of the gold bar across the front makes them a little more interesting.

I've been collection a few new hair bits over the past month or so, so I thought I'd share them with you.

Trying Out Something New // Smoky Eyes & Wavy Hair

Today I wanted to share with you a slightly different look I've been trying out recently.

After watching Mary's 2 ways to wave with straighteners video I decided to try this wavy style. It's so quick and easy to do, great for second day hair too. Go check out Mary's video if you want to see how to get this look!

Make-up wise, I've been trying out a slightly smokier eye look than I'm used to. Normally if I'm wearing any eye shadow at all, I'll either put a wash of  mid-tone shimmery brown all over the lid, or I'll blend a mid-tone brown in the crease. Recently I've been using Factory from my Naked 3 palette all over the lid and on the lower lash line, and blending it out with Nooner. A touch of black eyeliner and mascara finish off the look.

How I Style: Mint #2

Hey everyone,

Here is my second take on styling mint. I've kept it simple, with a plain mint and jumper and heels. Wearing paler blue jeans keeps the outfit feeling spring like, and matching your shoes to your jumper adds a more pulled together look.

How I Style: MInt #1

I love this time of year, when the shops are full of fresh spring hues. Mint is a shade that makes it's rounds every year. From spearmint to a true green mint and everything in between, mint is just one of those colours that everyone loves.

This textured top is almost white, but has a definite mint tone to it. I've paired it with my plaid skirt, which is actually from teen section of New Look. The mint stripe in the skirt gives it a fresher look, perfect for spring.

Marco De Vincenzo // Fashion Month Favourite

If you saw my New York, LondonMilan, or Paris Fashion Week Highlights, you may already know that I really loved Marco De Vincenzo's AW14 collection. I wanted to share the whole collection with you as basically I love every outfit. From the 70's hues and wavy prints, plaids mixed with stripes, textured leathers to rainbow hues. Enjoy.

Monday Wishlist #5

1. New Look Strappy Midi Dress: A simple grey dress like this one is a great layering piece. Wear with black thong sandals for a super simple, throw it on and go outfit. If you want a more pulled together look, throw over a leather jacket, some chunky black sandals and a red lip. Perfection.

2. New Look Cleated Sole Peeptoe Heels: Cleated soled heels are the shoe of the moment. From ankle boots, to chunky sandals they're in every high street store right now. As I'm super short, these huge heels would make me feel like a super model! Wear them with an LBD for a night out, but if you like to wear heels on a daily basis, skinny jeans and a cream blazer would look perfect with these.

3. & 4.  New Look Floral Blazer & New Look Floral Skirt: Co-ords have been on the perimeter of the fashion radar for a little while now, but it won't be long until the high street will be flooded with matching sets. Whether that be crop tops and skirts, blazers and shorts, or a combination of either tops and bottoms. A co-ord should be on your shopping list. The great thing about them is that not only do you have any instant statement outfit when worn together, but you can also wear them as separates.

WIWTW (What I Wore This Week) #22

Hi everyone,

This week I've been breaking into more spring like outfits, as the sun's been shining. I even wore sunglasses this week! I really can't wait until it's warm enough to go out on walks without jackets on, and when it's still daylight at 10 pm. I love summer.

On Monday I pulled out this purple plaid tee that I haven't worn for quite a while. Along with my disco pants, it makes for a great outfit just to throw on when I want to look pulled together but still be comfortable. I bought these pointed toe flats the other day as they are much more flattering than round toes flats. Round toed flats are just not my style at all.

Five Ways to Wear: Simple Black Dress

Hey everyone,

I thought I'd do a little something different today. If you saw this post you will have already seen how I styled my simple black vest dress for a night out. As this is such a versatile piece, I'm going to show you five ways to wear this dress for five different occasions.

How I Style: Folk Lore #2

Hey everyone,

Here is my second take on the Folk Lore trend. This time it has a little more of hippy vibe to it.

I love the tapestry print on this dress, it has a very 90's feel to it. To make it a little more 'Folk Lore' I added my tan fedora. I love this hat so much and I can't wait until the summer. I'm going to wear it with denim shorts and sandals when the sun's out.

How I Style: Folk Lore #1

When you speak of Folk Lore Fashion, traditional Eastern European dress comes to mind. This jacket reminded me of that style, heavily embroidered and full of rich colours. The cut of this jacket is quite classic, so the Folk Lore style print works well.

This aubergine coloured dress works perfectly with the jacket as there is a deep purple colour going through the jacket. The lace waistband also adds to the Folk Lore feel.

L'Oreal Mythic Oil Mask Review

Hey everyone,

Today I wanted to share with you my thoughts on a new hair masque I've been trying out.

Monday Wishlist #4

1. New Look Lime Green Jumper: This lime green/yellow is my favourite colour right now. I find myself drawn to it, whether that be in a block colour like this jumper or just as part of a print on a garment. We all know that in the UK a jumper for spring is still a must, as there's a chill in the air. As the colour is nice and bright, it would look great with a pair of denim shorts and sandals and warmer days.

2. Topshop Satin Cup Playsuit: Cobalt blue is everywhere right now. This playsuit with a pair of monochrome heels and bag = perfect spring night out look. I could also see this looking perfect with a pair of tan sandals and a big floppy beach hat while wandering around a market on a summer holiday.

3. Miss Selfridge Petite Dogtooth Skort: I really like the print of this skort. A mix of check and dogtooth. The monochrome colour palette gives it a smart look, especially if you add a black tailored blazer to the look.  I'd also dress this skort down with a white graphic tee and high tops.

4. Zara Strappy Sandals: Zara always seem to amazing heels. Well amazing shoes in general. If you can't tell, I'm loving monochrome right now. I love the white heel, it's a bit different to other sandals I've seen in this style. I like the block heel, it makes them so much eaier to walk in. I don't so stiletto heels anymore. The monochrome aztec print strap gives them a summer spin.

WIWTW (What I Wore This Week) #21

Hey everyone,

I can't believe it's the second week in March already! Where has the time gone??? I'm enjoying the (slightly) warmer weather, and the fact that it's daylight for longer. Yay!

I think this first outfit is very spring light. The colour is f=gorgeous, I love this shade of cornflower blue. I haven't worn this grey speckled cardigan for a while, but I think it looks perfect with the colours in the dress. I added my vintage-style necklaces for a girly look.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette // My Thoughts

The Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette has been out for a months now. Ever since I clapped eyes on it in many US bloggers' posts, I knew this would be a palette I would love. And I was so right. I had to wait a little while to get my hands on it, February 11th to be exact.

I already own both the original Naked Palette and the Naked 2 Palette, as well as the Naked Basics Palette. If I'm 100% honest, I actually didn't get much use out of any these palettes, I think I just wanted to collect them all. So of course when the news broke that there was a third Naked Palette on the horizon, I knew I would have to complete my collection.

This palette is different though. I've already used it more times than the other three palettes I own, combined. Now that's saying something. It's not that I don't like to wear eyeshadow, I'm just lazy. Now that I own the Naked 3 Palette I actually get excited about trying out new combinations of colours.

Now, I'm not going to pretend that I know much about describing colours et etc but I know the warm, rosy tones of this palette suit my blue eyes and blonde hair. The mix of colours mean I go can for a very light, natural every day look, really smoke it up for a sexy night out look, and everything in between. My perfect palette.

How I Style: All Black #2

Hey everyone,

Today's outfit is more of a going out look. This simple black dress is such a good layering piece for both nights out and for more casual looks. I'm actually planning a '1 dress 5 ways' post featuring it.

I layered my black kimono/cardigan over it, as the lace gives the outfit a sexy look, without showing too much skin. I also really like how this kimono/cardigan covers the backs of my legs, they're not my most favourite part of my body!

So my main tip for styling black is to use different textured pieces in your outfit. Leather and knit yesterday, jersey and lace today. Have fun with it, keeping everything one shade will pull the look together.

How I Style: All Black #1

I'm not really into wearing all black outfits. I'm much more drawn to colour and prints, but sometimes an understated all black outfit can look just as good.

If I'm going for a head-to-toe black outfit then I like to play with textures. In today's outfit I've gone for a black PU skirt and black jumper. The smoothness of the skirt with the textured jumper over the top makes the outfit more interesting. Add to that the sheer stripes on the jumper and you've got a less than boring black outfit!

New Look Fashion Haul

Hi everyone,

I did a little bit of shopping in New Look after work last week, so I thought I'd share it with you. I've linked everything I could find online, but everything should still in store now.

The first thing I picked up was this gorgeous bangle from RE:BORN. I had been walking passed it all day and decided that I needed it. It was half price so definitely worth a the few pounds I paid for it! Perfect for summer time.

Monday Wishlist #3

1. River Island Gilet: One thing I've learnt about dressing for my figure is that long-line jackets are my friend. Anything cropped, or that stops on my hips, completely cuts me off. Saying that, I have to be careful not to go too long, or I look like a child wearing my mothers coat. Not a good look.  This gilet would be perfect over a simple black dress; over a pair of black tailored trousers and white shirt; or simply with jeans and crisp white vest top.

2. Miss Selfridge Playsuit : Two or more prints within one garment is a trend which is already hitting the high street now. If you're not quite ready for stripes, florals and checks all in one garment, then this playsuit is perfect for you. It has the same print, but in reverse colours. A more subtle way to get the look.

3. ASOS Tassel Bell Necklace  : Another trend for this coming season will be tassels. Whether that be on bags, or on necklaces, they will be everywhere. I'm loving this ASOS version as neon green is definitely my colour of the season.

4. Miss Guided Strappy Sandals: I've included these sandals just because they're pretty. Very pretty. Wear with your LBD as a statement, or pink one of the colours from the shoe and buy an equally pretty dress to wear with them.

What's on your wishlist this week?

WIWTW (What I Wore This Week) #20

Hey everyone,

I bought this jumper while I was in London a few weeks ago. I just had to pop into New Look on Oxford Street, of course! The colour caught my eye as soon as I saw it and I knew I had to have it. It's a lovely coral-pink which brightens up these drizzly winter days. I kept the bottom half of the outfit simple, with what feels like my uniform of black skirt, opaque tights and black ankle boots.

Jumper = New Look/Skirt = New Look/Boots = ASOS

MAC Viva Glam Rihanna

Hey everyone,

Another MAC lipstick purchase over here. I'm a sucker for a new lipstick release, and this is another Rihanna collaboration. I had to have it.

If you didn't know, all profits from MAC's Viva Glam lipsticks go to the MAC Aids Fund. Another great reason to buy every colour, right?

Viva Glam Rihanna  is described as a frosty blue-red, which sums it up perfectly. It is a lovely bright red, similar in colour to Lady Bug, but has a frost finish therefore looks totally different on the lips. The frost finish gives the lipstick a metallic look, which I didn't think was my thing, but it really is.

I've never owned a frost lipstick from MAC before, but I'd heard people describe the formula as being 'gritty' I don't find this to be gritty at all, it feels like any other lipstick to me. Not overly moisturising, but not drying either.
