Autumn Lip Picks 2016

It's a bit of a cliche, but I genuinely do change up the lip products I wear in the autumn months. A bit darker, a bit more on the berry side of things, just a bit more autumnal. Here are my five autumn lip picks...

Three Ways to Wear White Jeans this Autumn

White jeans 3 ways is my most popular post. As that one is a little more styled for summer, I thought I'd share how I'd wear white jeans for autumn...

Three Places to Grab a Cool Cocktail in Newcastle

Where I'm from, you can't *really* get a cocktail. Well you can, but there's a very limited choice. So when I get the chance to have a drink in Newcastle, I tend to pick out a cocktail. Here are three places to grab a cool cocktail in Newcastle...

Quick Hairstyles for Busy Mornings

I spoke about how I like to curl my hair at the moment rather than straighten in this post. When my hair is curly it's super easy to style the next morning. Here are four quick hairstyles that are perfect for busy mornings, or just when you're feeling lazy.

The first look is super simple. All I did was twist the front section of my hair back and pinned it in place with a couple of kirby grips. It's ideal for keeping my hair out of my face without tying it up.

Dressing Like a Kid?! | Pinafore Dress + Checked Shirt

I'm short, and I look young for my age, but sometimes I just can't help but dress like a twelve year old. The lure of a pinafore dress and checked shirt combo are too much to resist.

As I said in this post, my New Look burgundy pinafore dress is perfect for autumn. I styled it with a striped long-sleeved tee underneath last time, but this time I paired it with a grey checked shirt for a more casual look.

Netflix Picks for Cosy Nights In

As soon as we get into September and it starts getting much darker, there's nothing I like better than snuggling up with something to watch on Netflix. I thought I'd share with you some Netflix picks that are perfect for cosy nights in.

1. Stranger Things

Stranger Things has been the talk of the internet over the past few months, and for a very good reason. Set in a small town in 1983, Joyce Byer's 12-year-old-son goes missing. A terrifying investigation begins involving the local authorities. As the search for answers continues, they unravel mysteries involving a secret government experiment, supernatural forces, oh and a little girl called Eleven. Not something I thought I would be my kind of thing, but I was hooked by the end of episode one. With only eight episodes in the first series, I'm eagerly awaiting series two!

How I Curl My Hair | Babyliss Curling Wand

As my hair has grown out quite a bit, I've really been enjoying curing it rather than wearing it straight. Everyone has their way of curling their hair, here's mine...

First up I'll rough dry my hair. I don't blow dry it smooth as I find my hair holds a curl better when it has some texture in it. I'll then section off my hair and start curling. I use the Babyliss Curling Wand (newer version here). It's much easier to use than a curling tong with a clip.

The Best Jeans for Short Gals (Like Me) | Topshop + ASOS

When you're just over five foot, buying jeans that fit and are actually flattering can be quite challenging. I have two go-to styles from two brands that never disappoint me.

The first pair are Jamie Jeans from Topshop. The pair I'm wearing here are mid-wash ripped Jamie jeans, but I also have them in plain black, too. The fit is so good; high-waisted and skin tight, just like skinny jeans should be. I do have to fold up the bottoms a couple of times as I'm a few inches shorter than the average 'petite'. I've got my eyes on a pair of coated black Jamie jeans that will be perfect for autumn.

What's in my Bag | University/Placement

As I'm in the middle of my primary placement at the moment, and starting my university course later this week, I thought I'd share with you what's in my bag right now...

Apart from my purse and keys, I also carry my phone around with me, although it's been switched off while I've been in the classroom of course.

L'Oreal Foundation Lowdown

I've been using the L'oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24h Foundation on a daily basis for over a year now, and it's worked great for me. Since I love this foundation so much, I thought I'd give some other L'oreal foundations a go and let you know what I think of them...

True Match Super-Blendable Foundation in 2.c Rose Vanilla

What it says - 'Perfectly matches skin colour and texture. True to skin shades capture your skin tone and undertone. Ultra-fine pigments provide the perfect coverage without caking to naturally beautify your skin'.

Work Outfits | New Navy

In a week's time I start my Secondary PGCE course (yikes!). That means at least three days a week I need to wear 'work' clothes as I'll be on placement in school. Gotta be profesh, y'know. Since I'm not really a black trousers and blouse kind of girl, I've been planning some school-appropriate outfits and buying bits and pieces I can wear.

I much prefer navy to black, so I've picked up some navy basics I can mix and match. I bought these trousers a few months back. They're petite from Dorothy Perkins so fit me perfectly.

Stationary Haul | Back to Uni Must Haves

I *may* have already mentioned, but in a few days time I start back at university. One of the most exciting things about going back to uni is buying new stationary. There's nothing nicer than making plans in your new diary, or the first fresh page in your notebook. It's not just me that enjoys that, right?

As well as the notebooks pictured, which are from Morrisons and WHSmith, I picked up some cute folders and a pen holder from Paperchase which had 30% off. That's lots of bargains to be had in the shops at the minute!

Top Five MAC Make-Up Picks

When I first started really getting into make-up, MAC was the go-to brand. I saw it as high-end, but not too expensive. Over the past seven or eight years I've grown out of only wanting to buy MAC make-up and branched out to try lots of other great brands. There are still a few products that I'll keep going back to MAC for, though. Here are my Top five MAC make-up picks...

1. Mineralize Skinfinsh Natural. This is by far my favourite face powder. It adds a touch of extra coverage and leaves my skin looking smooth but not too matte or powdery. I think this is my fourth or fifth re-purchase in the past few years!
