Avril | Organic Make-Up

You more than likely hadn't heard the brand Avril before clicking on the post, neither had until I was contacted by the brand. I was offered the chance to try any three products from the website, and of course, the makeup is what caught my attention.

Avril's mission is to make organic cosmetics affordable for every woman. And affordable they are! With lip products between 3-6 euros and skincare all under 10 euros, you can switch to organic products without breaking the bank.

I decided to test out two lipsticks - Rose Vintage and Aubergine Nacre - and a highlighter. As you can see from the swatches below the lipsticks are well pigmented and the highlighter is on the subtle side. All three products are certified organic by an independent company.

The lipstick, Aubergine Nacre, was a bit on the patchy side when I swatched it on my hand. To be honest, I didn't think it was to be great on my lips. When I applied it, it quickly evened out to a semi-matte finish which wasn't patchy at all. It's a beautiful (as the name suggests) deep aubergine shade which is going to be perfect for the upcoming autumn months. In fact, there's a dress from New Look I have my eye on that this lipstick will be a perfect partner for.
When I first swatched the highlighter, I didn't think it was going to show up on my skin at all. It has that matte-highlighter look to it which isn't really my thang. I was pleasantly surprised when I applied it my cheekbones, forehead, bridge of my nose and top lip. It gives a beautiful, natural looking glow without a hint of shimmer. You'd be forgiven for thinking that this highlighter was actually a face powder in the pan, but - trust me - it's a beautiful everyday highlighter. The only negative thing I'd say about this product is that is a rather odd smell to it which isn't very pleasant. It doesn't hang around on your skin though, so that can be forgiven.
Last but not least is the lipstick in Vintage Rose. This was the standout product for me. It's a beautiful rosy nude shade which has a slight grey undertone on me. It is a lot creamier than the first lipstick and therefore is more comfortable on the lips. It does have a slight sheen to it, but that's fine with me. For everyday lip colours, I prefer something that is going to be comfortable rather than very matte which will dry out my lips very quickly.

Have you tried any organic makeup? This is my first time!

*Avril provided me with these products free of charge in return for a review. All opinions are my own.
