A Different Length

A different length? Am I talking about my hair? The length of a swimming pool? No, no. I'm talking about the length of my new skirt. A midaxi skirt, if you're wondering. A midi/maxi hybrid, which I thought would end up a maxi on me for sure since I'm five foot nothing. I always like the idea of a maxi skirt, but I find that they just make me look shorter than I already am, which isn't ideal. Then there's the midi skirt. The just-below-the-knee option is flattering, but getting that much of my bare leg out in this weather is madness.

Not only is the length of this skirt new to me, but the shape is, too. It has a pencil skirt feel but then flutes out at the bottom in a bit of a mermaid shape, making it flowier. It's also in a stretch fabric so fits perfectly around my curves. Of course, it was the floral print that drew me in initially. The black base makes it perfect for the colder months, while the bright florals mean I can wear it all through the summer months, too.
If you saw last week's '2018 Outfit Inspiration from ASOS' you'll see that I took a lot of inspo from the way it was styled on the ASOS website for this look. I swapped out the ankle boots for a fab pair of mules I picked up in the ASOS sale for a bargainous £8.50! Although, my toes felt like they were actually going to drop off as we literally braved a storm to take these outfit photos and the wind was so cold. The winter sun made for great lighting though, right?

I'm so looking forward to some warmer weather so I can wear nice outfits without having to bundle up in a big coat over the top. I plan on finding a coral bardot top to wear with this skirt later in the year, let me know if you come across any...

  2. I have a few inches on you.. in height, Im 5.3/4, but I too just struggle to buy into the maxi/midi skirt deal for few of being shorter. It's a style that I always love seeing on other people, but I just think, na not for me.
I love your choice though. A lovely skirt and spot on to me how you've styled it..
I may try it at some point...
